A warm welcome to Munich, the “Capital with heart”. Germany´s third largest city is captivating by a unique combination of elegant shopping streets, cosmopolitan city flair, and a cordial coziness, which is not only loved by the approximately 1,3 Million Munich residents. Every year an uncountable amount of tourists is coming to visit the Bavarian Capital on the Isar River.
Besides attractions such as the world famous “Oktoberfest”, the “Hofbräuhaus” and numerous parks and greenery especially around the riverside, Munich offers a lot of cultural opportunities: The German Museum (Deutsches Museum), “ the famous “Old and New Picture Gallery” (Pinakotheken) or the brand new BMW Museum are well worth a visit. Movie fans would love to come here for the annual Munich Film Festival or to visit the “Bavaria Film Studios”.
The best social place to meet in summer in Munich are the beer-gardens. Under shady trees you will find a very laid-back and friendly atmosphere. Get into a conversation with the Bavarians and join their sense of coziness and social acceptance. And, of course, do not miss to “Prost” with strangers and friends with a cooled and tasty beer.
During winter many charming Christmas markets occur and it is highly recommended to visit one of them and use the opportunity to drink the famous hot wine punch while buying some traditional Bavarian crafts, sweets, food or other delights.
Munich is the perfect originator for exploring the nearby mountains, which can even be seen from the city if there are good weather conditions. Take a trip and enjoy the Bavarian Alps and its breathtaking views. All kinds of outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, skiing or sailing are provided. Visit the romantic castles such as the famous “Schloss Neuschwanstein” or picturesque lakes or just enjoy spending time outdoor. Munich definitely is worth a stopover on the way south to Austria or Italy.
